To be eligible to take the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Examination, you must be 21 years old, be a high school graduate (or have obtained a G.E.D), and have successfully completed the 45 hour Real Estate Transactions Course.
This course is offered by many major real estate organizations, by private companies, and by many colleges and universities. The course is identical regardless of where you take it, and you do not have to be “sponsored” by a specific company to take the course.
You can take the course in the usual classroom mode at various Lake County locations (typically 3 hour sessions one or two nights per week for 6 or 12 weeks), on the internet, and as a home study course. Since the material is the same, we suggest you take the course however and wherever it is most convenient for you. The decision as to what company to ultimately work for should be made independently of where you take the license course.
